McQueen Spring Summer 2025: The Banshee’s Call
McQueen’s Spring Summer 2025 campaign unfolds against the cinematic backdrop of Llansteffan Castle in Wales, where light and shadow play on castle walls, land, and shore. Shot by Glen Luchford, the campaign taps into an almost mythic energy, channeling the banshee—an enduring figure in both McQueen’s legacy and the Irish heritage of new Creative Director Seán McGirr.
For McGirr, the banshee is more than just folklore. “She embodies a sense of strident self-expression that resonates now; something freeing that drives connection with others.” That spirit finds form in a collection where razor-sharp tailoring meets ghostly, textured fabrics. Cobweb lace, pleated chiffon, silk creponne, and shredded silk organza bring an ethereal contrast to structured silhouettes, all finished with meticulous hand-worked detail. The palette moves between ivory, silvered grey, and black, with bursts of yellow and orange—tones that hint at both strength and fragility.
Accessories lean sculptural, while jewelry takes cues from the objects woven into banshee mythology. The result? A collection that doesn’t just nod to history but reinterprets it through McQueen’s signature lens: bold, uncompromising, and always charged with narrative depth.
