Wood Wood SS19
Words by Taj Hayer
Following on from a successful last season, Wood Wood presented a new offering at fashion week in celebration of the great outdoors.
Entitled “The Outside” the collection was full of contemporary streetwear with technical details that make it perfect for the outdoors. Nature and the wilderness were the starting points for those that spend their time travelling vast mountains and forests around the world. That reference found itself on a base of 90s sportswear pieces - a signature look for the brand.
The menswear looks focused on youth and the necessity for a wardrobe that suits an active lifestyle. Key looks like the cropped bottoms in cotton, Japanese worker style field shirt and shell jackets stood out on the tight colour palette of sand, navy and khaki. Strong, simple shirting has become something of a Wood Wood trademark and here there were some easily wear straight off the hanger subtle floral prints that we were particularly fond of. The collection also includes various colourways of a new unisex trail inspired sneaker constructed in mesh and suede sitting atop a white Vibram sole.
