Phoebe English AW18
Photography and video by Nicholas Andrews
Leading the way for young designers, Phoebe English presented an autumn collection that focused on creating a minimalist wardrobe, with sustainability at its core.
For the backdrop to the presentation English created a rack, draped with clothes. They were not just any clothes, but toiles and fabric cuttings to be reused. The collection itself was quietly confident - these are not pieces worn for any effect, but straight forward, unfussy and high quality menswear.
Sticking to a colour palette of black, navy blue and a vivid shade of red, the waxed cotton long goats deserve special mention . Bags were designed to look like shopping carriers and classic tote shaped backpacks. The super minimalist approach means that the most fashion forward element of the collection was the scallop edging on trouser hems.
New for autumn 2018 is a collaboration with Helen Laurence, on knitwear; chunky waffle knit jumpers and super comfy rib knit beanie hats.
