Escape to The Mondrian, East London’s trendiest hotel

If you are of the view that Shoreditch is the only place you want to be, when looking for an edgy and cool night out in one of the world’s most vibrant cities, the Mondrian Shoreditch is right in the centre of that space. Since its doors opened in 2021 it has become one of London’s best places to stay for its unique interiors, great location and buzzing restaurants, all of which are a real celebration of Shoreditch.

Positioned in a red brick building between Old Street and Shoreditch High Street (and only a short walk from either Underground station), the contemporary design with high ceilings and lots of light give Manhattan loft vibes. That becomes even more apparent in the focus on creativity throughout the space which has black and white photography and images of icons like Audrey Hepburn hung throughout. Whilst there may be 120 rooms to choose from, ranging from the standard king, superior queen and loft suite, it is the Penthouse Suite that makes it easy for you to say yes to spending that little bit more.

The spacious and supremely elegant, 95 square metre accommodation boasts stunning views of London and has a plethora of luxurious touches. These include the privacy of two showers rooms (steam rain showers no less), a freestanding bathtub within the master bedroom space, a private kitchen, large dining room that is full of comfortable and colourful touches. The floor to ceiling windows provide that aforementioned flooding of light, and on the walls you can study the works of modern renowned artist Studio Graphite and photographer Mick Rock. The huge king sized bed offers yet more luxury and a great night’s sleep and can be expanded, with additional rooms to sleep up to six people. In such a space as this, relaxation has been designed to be a number one priority and it is so easy to spend the night snuggled up and stretched out in the king size bed and indulge in a luxurious lie-in the next morning. The bathrooms are no less deluxe, with their marble cladding, steam showers and cream and black interiors opening up the floor to an hours-long pamper session.

Should you decide to venture out of the Penthouse, elsewhere within the hotel there is also a gym as well as a spa that offers all of best luxury wellness treatments. If wellness and wellbeing are not for you (where have you been for the last five years?) you can instead head up to the rooftop bar and pool. During the day it’s a great spot for sunbathing and people watching at Laurel’s On The Roof which feels like kind of LA space that you would find Richard Gere in the Eighties, perhaps enjoying a full English. During the night it is lit up by fairy lights and comes highly recommended as a pre-drink spot before heading out into the city. Downstairs you’ll find even more cocktail choices at Christina’s Shoreditch as well as world-famous chef Dani Garcia’s first London outpost, BiBo Shoreditch.
