New Balance Introduces the Made in UK Allerdale
New Balance expands its Made in UK lineup with the introduction of the Allerdale, a model that blends the brand’s walking shoe heritage with a refined, minimalist aesthetic. Named after the Cumbrian district home to the Flimby factory, the design moves beyond retro running silhouettes, offering an elevated take on outdoor footwear.
Built for both comfort and sophistication, the Allerdale features premium leather and suede uppers, a rubber cupped sole with heavy-duty stitching, and a rugged hiking-inspired tread. FuelCell cushioning and an OrthoLite® insert ensure all-day wearability, while D-ring lacing and a woven tongue label nod to classic hiking influences.
Minimalist branding—marked by an embroidered flying NB logo—keeps the look understated, reinforcing the model’s clean, contemporary direction. As New Balance’s Creative Design Manager Sam Pearce notes, this is a step towards a more formal, tailored approach to footwear, while still remaining true to the brand’s deep-rooted craftsmanship.
The Allerdale in brown leather (UADWBRN) launches globally on March 20th via newbalance.co.uk, offering a fresh alternative for those looking to bridge technical function with a refined everyday look.
