MR. P launches winter 2021 collection

As the nights get darker and you, with a sigh reach for your worn out overcoat, MR. P at MR PORTER have just released their new winter 2021 collection. 

Encompassing more than 200 pieces across all the usual categories, the new collection broadly takes its inspiration from the modernist aesthetic of American artists such as Group f/64, Ansel Adams and Edward Weston, who revolutionised American photography. In addition to that, nature preservation has been at the forefront of the mind for the designers, and there has been an increase in the range of organic and responsible materials. As you would expect for winter, colours are rich and low-key. 

Just a few of the highlights of the range include an expanded range of responsibly sourced, Leather Working Group- certified leather outerwear with shearling trimmed suede bombers, chunky shearling fleeces and suede trucker jackets available in various colours. For those that have decided that the office is not for them, there is beautiful cashmere-blend loungewear sets and organic cotton sweats. 

Aside from the always rakish quality and design of the actual clothes, the MR. P winter 2021 collection is perhaps most memorable for its bold leap into the future with the use of digital ID technology.

or the first time, every ready-to-wear item in the latest collection has been embedded with a unique Digital ID that can record an item’s history as it moves through its life cycle. The development follows strong customer interest in MR PORTER’s pilot Digital ID program in partnership with New York-based technology firm, EON, which showed customers returning on average three times to engage with the unique content and services within previous Mr P. collections. By simply scanning the QR code embedded in their garment, customers are able to unlock insight into the design and provenance, styling tips and access to care and repair recommendations and services. The aim is to engage customers with details of where a product has come from and how to keep it in use for longer to enhance a garment’s versatility, longevity and value. Suddenly that sweater is much more than a sweater.
