Continuing their decades long streak as one of the best High Street retailers for menswear, Marks & Spencer launches their collection for spring/ summer 2022. As you would expect, it encompasses a dependable selection of easy to wear, well made and confident pieces, with a focus on sustainability.
New drops will follow monthly from February - May with each instalment changing the focus, aptly time for good/ bad weather and hopeful days off by the sea on a Bank Holiday weekend. New denim looks are introduced with the Indigo range with items like he tapered cobalt jean and relaxed overshirt to the indigo rugby and vintage stripe tee. This trend is about comfort, texture and timeless layering pieces. This season also sees the brand’s first circular denim collection, made from safe and recycled or renewable materials.
Autograph continues to deliver considered, understated luxury with a clean, minimal design aesthetic. SS22 includes elevated details, colour and pattern underpin the Autograph brand identity and hero items include border print linen blend shirts, retro geo print separates and cotton sateen tailoring. As temperatures slowly increase, tones turn more to warm beige through to pastel yellow and sage green, with laundered materials that are soft to touch, and hero natural fabrications such as linen and sustainably sourced cotton. Layering is fundamental to this aesthetic, teaming sweatshirts and tactile knits with overshirts and casual separates.
Suits have forever been a hero piece for the M&S man and for spring he has new options via the introduction of contemporary linen fabrications, suiting with easy care attributes, double breasted designs, and styling with a casual emphasis. Summer signals a renewed optimism for us all and a season filled with getaways, celebrations and the return to a more normal way of life. Key seasonal fabrications, include Terry towelling and linen which sit back with deckchair stripes and contemporary print combinations.
