Jil Sander SS19

The Jil Sander man is a man that follows his own rules. After an impressive autumn collection, Lucie and Like Meier built on that success with a confident and playful spring range. The focus was on superb tailoring, a sharp and modern uniform, progressive shapes and silhouettes and a technical and functional ability.

Contrasting from a heavy, performance driven last collection, the spring man wears suits that are fresh and airy, reinvented in a soft kilt silhouette in black, white, navy and cream. Shorter shape jackets are paired out trousers that are light but still structured and water-repellant cotton polyurethane coats and raincoats, that still maintain that light and functional quality.

The modern tailoring is showcased by trousers cut sharply at the ankles and extended shirts. White poplin shirts are crisp, printed with sharp, photographic prints realised through an elaborate process of silk screens in black and white, red, green and turquoise. Collars are either modest or sculptural, making them the hero product of the new collection.

That clean and lean silhouette that Jil Sander is so well known for followed through into shoe and bat shapes, garment dyed and finished in natural minerals such as leather and cotton, generating a strong contrast with the lines of the garments.

Wonderfully calming, unique and full of quirky and beautiful contrasts that will deliver amazing confidence to the wearer.
