Highlights from 080 Barcelona Fashion Week

As Barcelona starts to get into its stride as a fashion city to compete with the likes of Milan and London, this seasons shows saw more international designers choosing to showcase their wares in the city, and of course, a whole host of home grown talent from all areas of Spain. Whilst the mood remains on the whole, sporty for men and glamorous for women, there were four shows that really stood out for us. See the highlights from fashion week below …

Man’s Concept

One brand that we can really see going places. Hands down the most International and on trend of the offerings throughout the week, Man’s Concept’s collection was a cross between Thom Browne, Alexander McQueen and Valentino menswear which is high praise indeed. The capes, shows and details on bags were superb but it was the silk scarf shirts that really stood out as pieces that you would want to wear immediately off the catwalk. The evening wear was also a real highlight - interesting details on tuxedos, ever so slightly exaggerated proportions and accessorised perfectly.

Eñaut

Proof that tonal dressing is going nowhere in a hurry, the collection would easily be seen on a London catwalk. Pieces were well tailored and layered, in crisp and clean, light summer fabrics. A modern take on fishermen trends, the boots were a standout as were the sheer knits and longline shirts. Simple sex, which is how we like it best. A deserved winner of the emerging designer award.

Marrakshi Life

Hailing from Morocco, international guest Marrakshi Life brought the sand dunes to the Barcelona catwalk. Sorbet shades and colourful stripes were the order of the day and everything was exaggerated, from the cuffs of the trousers to the sleeves on shirts. Smart mandarin collars are perfect for dress downs whilst the closing looks of bold striped jumpsuits are made for a great night out.

Antonio Miro

It was the smart and intelligent details that made this show stand out. Kimono style shirts opened the show whilst elsewhere models sported feathered collars and summer at camp style chino shorts and baseball caps. Those camo ties will be a sell out too.
