Girard-Perregaux launches Casquette 2.0 Titanium and Gold
This autumn, Girard-Perregaux has unveiled the latest iteration of the Casquette 2.0, a unique evolution of its 1976 icon that caters directly to the brand's dedicated community. Following the success of the 2022 Casquette 2.0 reissue, Girard-Perregaux continues to merge nostalgic design with modern functionality, now presenting a new model crafted in Grade 5 titanium with elegant 18K 2N yellow gold details, including a GP logo and matching pushers.
First released in the sci-fi-obsessed era of the mid-70s, the original Casquette broke the mold with its forward-looking aesthetic and unusual tubular LED display. This piece became a symbol of technical ingenuity, with its futuristic quartz movement and in-house design, helping establish the quartz frequency of 32,768 Hz, which remains the universal standard today. Girard-Perregaux’s bold decision to abandon traditional watch hands for glowing red LED numerals was a game-changer that resonated with collectors and enthusiasts worldwide.
In 2022, by popular demand, the watchmaker reintroduced the Casquette as the Casquette 2.0, retaining the original’s black ceramic and titanium aesthetics while adding functional upgrades, including a chronograph, second time zone, and secret date, all powered by the in-house Calibre GP03980. This movement, compatible with both modern and original Casquette models, allows even first-generation timepieces to receive contemporary updates—making Casquette one of the oldest quartz watches that remains serviceable.
The newly released Casquette 2.0 Titanium and Gold honors its history, yet the design has been refined for a new generation. With a sleek titanium case and bracelet, this edition introduces a rubber-lined band for improved comfort and a micro-adjustable titanium buckle for precise sizing. The case's metallic warmth paired with yellow gold accents nods to the 70s models offered in Macrolon, gold plating, and steel, while modern advancements ensure longevity and reliability.
A limited run of only 820 pieces reinforces the exclusive nature of the Casquette 2.0, with “GP lovers”—dedicated brand collectors—receiving exclusive early access to order from October 31 through November 14 on Girard-Perregaux’s website. This exclusive access is a tribute to the watchmaker’s loyal community, which has remained closely involved with the brand through events, visits, and social media engagement.
From the tubular LED display to the high-tech Calibre GP03980 movement, the Casquette 2.0 Titanium and Gold exemplifies Girard-Perregaux’s legacy of innovation and engagement with its dedicated collector community. Following the exclusive release period, this limited-edition piece will be available in select Girard-Perregaux boutiques and authorized retailers.
