What we saw
A preview of the autumn collection from British tailoring powerhouse Gieves & Hawkes. Inspired by the brands naval heritage, the collection was full of references to the past merged with technical details and a trend awareness that brought it bang up to date for the discerning twenty first century customer. That Battle of Trafalgar 1771 emblem was a tasteful nod to the past and it appeared on scarves, on the inside of jackets and on the eve growing leather accessory pieces.
Of the thirteen looks displayed, eyes were immediately drawn to the outerwear - perfectly shaped, fit for purpose and with a must wear now quality (special mention to the navy suede with sheepskin collar). Classic tailoring is part of the brands DNA so it was no surprise to see well cut suits styled with premium knits but the evening wear was something of a pleasant surprise - perfect for the man that wants to subtly stand out for all of the right reasons.
