Exhibit: Son of a Beach & Other Stories at Gallery 1885

"Son of a Beach and Other Stories" showcases Nicholas Andrews' evocative images from his personal and editorial work. This collection presents a series of works that showcase the male form against the coastal backdrop, reflecting Andrews' adolescence in Dorset, which happens to be home to some of the UK's most beautiful beaches.

The series captures vivid memories of sunburnt necks, salty hair, and summer days, romanticising the connection of skin, sea, and sand to teenage desire. So many images featured within the exhibition recount recount Andrews' youth, exploring themes of anticipation, connection, and self-discovery. Many images in this collection stem from his collaborations with The Rakish Gent magazine, including a recent homage to American photographer George Platt Lynes, entitled Ode which is exclusively featured in Issue 5.

"Other Stories" within the exhibition features Andrews' editorial shoots and creative collaborations. The collection highlights his ability to reinterpret past experiences and present them with contemporary relevance, often working some of the most celebrated male models in the world.
