Hosting more than 50 paintings, prints and drawings, all featuring Freud’s unflinching portrait of himself, the exhibit spans almost seven decades and offer a fascinating insight into his development as a painter. The exhibit features his earliest portrait from 1939 to his final one, executed 64 years later.

Starting with his linear, graphic style to the fleshier style that he is now synonymous with, the works are an engrossing study of the process of ageing. Intensely compelling and an unmissable chance to see a life’s work in one show.

From now to 26 January 2020 at the Royal Academy of Arts. From £18.
