E. Tautz AW18
For autumn 2018, the ever impressive E. Tautz presented one of their strongest collections ever.
With the thinking that a look to the past is a way to inform our future, the collection was an ode to the Eighties. Often thought of as the decade that style forgot (Thatcher, fat cats and sell-offs anyone?) Patrick Grant focuses on the stylised youth of the era. It was the time of punks, skinheads, mods and new romantics. There are nods to all of these varied inspirations here - oversized and boxy shaped jackets, extreme checks, thick creeper shoes, corduroy and exaggerated knitwear.
In the past, E. Tautz has treaded a careful line of easy tailoring and fashion forward silhouettes, that have built on their reputation as one of the coolest of the British tailoring brands. The autumn 2018 offering takes the cool factor up several notches with edgier pieces than ever before, superb shapes and a quirky sense of styling. The Eighties were a decade that divided Britain - we want to be one on the side of the new suedeheads.
