Each season, Patrick Grant at E Tautz delivers menswear that hits all of the atypical trends that we would expect, whilst somehow creating pieces that are more gentlemanly and refined than any of his counterparts.

The SS20 Les Fleurs collection was full to the brim of everything that you will want to be wearing next spring, and with a host of familiar E Tautz hallmarks. The baseball shirt, oversized double-breasted jacket and Harrington jacket which have become part of the reason that the brand is a regular go-to for The Rakish Gent were given a youthful twist, styled with drawstring bags, pull-up socks and leather sandals. Colour, which was blasted last season with bright pinks and mint green (a first for E Tautz which had traditionally nailed a black/ grey and navy colour palette) is now stronger than ever before with shades of orange, oxblood, coral, sky blue, kiwi and sage all becoming desirable shades for spring.

The refinement came in the way in which trends that one would not expect to be classed as gentlemanly, were elevated to make them so. Case in point? Short shorts. Typically worn by the boys of Love Island, here they were work shorts in tangerine linen, made to look like creased paper and ideal for a summer on the Amalfi coast. Print, first seen last season was taken further with a superb meadow floral shirt print, hidden under a sharply tailored double-breasted jacket and on shorts with a tropical print. Playing with proportions has always been one of the great strengths of the brand, and the pleated shorts with a tucked in collarless shirt is a look that we can definitely get on board with.
