&Daughter launches menswear for AW24
&Daughter, known for its artisanal knitwear, is expanding into menswear for Autumn/Winter 2024. Launched in 2013 by founder and creative director Buffy Reid, the brand continues its commitment to quality, offering pieces crafted from 100% natural yarns, responsibly sourced, spun, and made in the British Isles and Ireland.
The 10-piece debut men’s collection includes versatile essentials like a chunky rib zip jacket, a collared knit polo, and a classic Grandad cardigan. The collection emphasizes a palette of monochromes with bold pops of red and pink, while other pieces, such as the cricket V-neck and rugby-striped polos, introduce a preppy touch. Reid’s designs blend timeless knitwear staples with vibrant colors, offering both subdued and statement pieces for men.
Drawing from the label’s womenswear roots, Reid explains that knitwear today transcends traditional gender boundaries. "Knitwear isn't a gendered product anymore," she notes, highlighting the fluidity and flexibility in how people wear these foundational pieces.
The collection taps into icons of male knitwear, inspired by figures like James Baldwin and Derek Jarman, with an emphasis on enduring classics. Reid notes the romance in well-made knitwear—treasured items that evolve over time and can be passed down as heirlooms.
