Cubitts opens optical workshop

In the basement of the Cubitts HQ at 97 Caledonian Road, in the heart of Kings Cross, the brand has just opened the first spectacle making workshop in London for three generations. 

Three full time spectacle makers use a combination of cutting edge machinery and traditional frame making skills that have been employed for centuries, as the Cubitts workshop makes bespoke spectacles, made to measure acetate frames as well as limited editions and special projects. The team includes impressive talents like Mila Chielman (the first spectacle making apprentice in a generation) and Mat Havercroft (grandson of a master frame-maker). 

The opening of the first full spectacle making workshop is a brilliant investment to ensure that the craft and tradition of creating bespoke spectacles continues to endure.
