Chester Barrie SS18
With snow swirling around outside, its easy to forget that spring is imminent and warmer climes are (supposedly) en route. To help remind us, in the best way possible, is the new season from Chester Barrie.
One of Savile Row’s best brands, the collection is an evolution of the aesthetic of fine tailoring with a contemporary edge. For spring, the aim is to create a wardrobe full of pieces that men will want to wear whatever the occasion. How does one do that? By creating great separates - knits, shirts and trousers that are instantly interchangeable and suits that can be easily broken up. Fabrics are some of the best, as we would expect from a Savile Row brand - rich blue gingham pure wool and signature wool mohair blend.
Standouts of those aforementioned separates include shirts in chambray and Japanese denim, long sleeve polos in cotton, cashmere and silk which are a welcome addition of luxury to the wardrobe.
In keeping with that “wear it anywhere” mode, the travel suit is stain resistant, water repellant, naturally crease resist and with an anti-bacterial lining. Pretty perfect for the modern businessman.
Occasion wear is where the brand really excels though. The black tuxedo with silk bow tie and pleated dress shirt and lush wool waistcoat in dapper cream, are really special pieces that you won’t want to take off.
