Casablanca AW20

Words - Taj Hayer

For autumn 2020, Casablanca envisage a world full of 7 Sundays, lush gardens, classical architecture and a life on the ski slopes.

An envious and ideal lifestyle for the rakish gent, that sense of idealism can present itself in beautiful clothes. Set at the waterside Italian sanctuary of Lake Guarda, surrounded by rich green gardens and flanked by snowcapped mountains, Roman architecture serves as a reminder of the achievements of men.

As we have come to expect from the brand, the autumn collection was the perfect marriage of nature and architecture, with silk shirts and printed denim pieces boasting winter whites and autumn reds, and rich blue skies evoking the Italian pistes. The new season also sees the signature monogram, inspired by antique interior arts. Created alongside Italian artisan mills, all monogram fabrics are made from Italian custom jacquard.

Cashmere added a newness, with the signature Casablanca tracksuit offered in a plush cashmere blend, perfect for the ski club. That same club would also see its members in pink and blue membership shirts and rich knitwear that works equally for day and night.

Casablanca’s Ski wear, developed in Italy, marks the brand’s first step into technical outerwear. Comfortable ski whites are included to encapsulate the chicness of winter at the mountains. The show also saw the debut of the Casablanca x New Balance collaboration, featuring the first of the new 70’s- inspired New Balance silhouette - the 327. Casablanca is the first to assist in their introduction to the marketplace. The line comprises of four colour ways, Casablanca’s signature orange and green along with classic black and white pieces. Available in April, they are the first Casablanca partnership with another brand.
