Aera Introduces First Chronograph: The C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud

Aera, the watch brand founded by industry veterans Jas Minhas and Olof Larsson in 2022, has unveiled its latest addition—the C-1 Chronograph. This new model is available in two strikingly different designs, the C-1 Shadow and C-1 Cloud, both produced in limited editions of 300 with phased releases in 2024 and 2025.

The C-1 Chronograph continues Aera’s focus on Swiss-made mechanical watches that blend contemporary design with enduring functionality. Each model shares Aera's signature design language, featuring curved lugs, ergonomic, interchangeable straps, and an elliptical case shape that emphasizes comfort and style.

Both versions of the C-1 come in 904L steel, a high-grade material rarely used in the watch industry due to its complexity and cost, but prized for its superior resistance to corrosion and unique finish. The chronograph is powered by the Swiss-made Sellita SW510 Bi-compax Elabore grade automatic movement, offering a 56-hour power reserve. The layout includes two recessed sub-dials and a central chronograph seconds hand, which times to 1/5th of a second.

The C-1 Shadow features a matte black PVD-coated 904L steel case with matching black accents on the bezel and dial. Key details, such as the hands and markings, are enhanced with Swiss Super-LumiNova® for legibility in low-light situations. The watch also includes two integrated straps—black FKM Scuba Rubber and orange Italian leather—both easily interchangeable.

In contrast, the C-1 Cloud offers a lighter aesthetic with a pale matte grey dial and sky blue accents. Its light grey leather and white rubber straps maintain the same quick-release functionality. Like the Shadow, the Cloud utilizes Swiss Super-LumiNova® on the hands for visibility in darkness, alongside a glow-in-the-dark Aera logo made from solid GlobolightTM.
