Kenneth Wolstenholme’s iconic line from Hurst’s World Cup sealing goal in 1966 is the initial source of inspiration for the new autumn/ winter 2023 collection from Admiral Sporting Goods Co. AW23 collection which pays homage to that, and many other iconic sporting moments; the last gasp, heart in mouth situations that sit with us well beyond the final whistle.

The Not Yet Finished collection is a celebration of the moments in between, where the true magic happens. For all its training and micro-regimens, sport continues to deliver see-it-to-believe moments like nothing else on Earth. Drawing from that initial idea, the brand looked to their illustrious past as Britain’s oldest sportswear manufacturer to produce a collection imbued with vintage sportswear touches built for the contemporary wardrobe.

Highlights of the collection include the Made In England Conway Knitwear in seasonally appropriate colours, and ASG’s take on the ubiquitous Rugby jersey. Both pieces, drawn from the Admiral archive, have been adopted into the menswear zeitgeist as key casual pieces that are foundational for outfits. Details once again reign supreme, where rubberised buttons are true to the original need of the Rugby jerseys, drawcords are waxed dipped, seams are cover stitched for increased durability and pocket placement subtly nods to a carefully considered garment.
