849 Alexander Girard pen by Caran d’ Ache
Caran d’Ache has collaborated with Girard Studio and Vitra on the 849 Alexander Girard, a limited edition ballpoint pen with all of the stationers expertise combined with a playful print.
If you’ve not heard of Alexander Girard, he was a leading figure in American post-war design, working in textile, graphic design and interiors. His prints brought a much needed sense of fun austere classicism. Before the advancement of the digital age, Girard was often found to carry a ball point pen in the pocket of his tweed jacket to allow him to jot down any sudden ideas or inspiration.
Aptly, the 849 Alexander Girard pen is insured by his work, patterns and motifs. The first of the limited edition models features a geometric double triangle design in white gloss on a matt black body whilst the second features pink checked stripes on a glossy white body. Girard’s eye motif features on both cases.
The instrument itself is exactly the quality and craftsmanship that we have come to expect from Caran d’Ache. The light 849 pen has a hexagonal body and the Goliath cartridge which compliments is capable of writing up to 600 A4 pages.
