London is almost unrecognisable from the present day when you look at the images in 78-87 London Youth. 

Taken in the streets, clubs, bars and basements of the capital during a nine year period, the photographs document dressing up and going out, out during the days of punk and fetish. It is the characters within the images that make the photographs so arresting - Ridgers has a skill in recording people that definitive of the time and age and especially of youth culture. Looking back at that time now, is a fascinating contrast in fashion, music and culture.
